The University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine (UTGSM) in Knoxville, a part of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) in Memphis, offers exceptional training in graduate medical and dental education. Beginning as the "Internship Program" in 1956 with the opening of the UT Memorial Research Center and Hospital, the graduate medical and dental educational and research programs in Knoxville formally became the UTGSM with the formation of the University of Tennessee Medical Center (UTMC) in 1991.

We work closely with our clinical partner, University Health System Inc, as a part of the UTMC campus providing advanced quaternary medical care found only in an academic medical center.

Today, the UTGSM is home to multiple, fully accredited residencies and fellowships in medicine, dentistry, and oral & maxillofacial surgery. We host 3rd year medical students from UTHSC on core clinical clerkships, PA students, and 4th year medical students from UTHSC and other institutions on elective rotations.
