UNH IT-666 Computer Security

Introduction to the complete range of cyber security topics: Cryptography, Risk, Secure code development, Network Defense. Course slides, labs, and supplemental readings are publicly available.

The UNH Cybersecurity Club

Student run. Meets weekly in Kingsbury N233 or N203 based on the topic of the evening. The club also participates in local (CSAW at NYU, CyberSeed at UConn, etc) as well as online events.

Northeast Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition

UNH has participated the last 7 years, hosting the event in 2014. Students are responsible for all aspects of IT for a business (Sevice uptime, change management, defense). Great full-time and intern opportunities (Akamai, AWS, Dell, EMC, Liberty Mutual, Raytheon)

Internet Security Projects

Much has changed since my ARPAnet days. Below are some ideas and concept software that I hope in some small way will lead to a safer Internet for everyone.

OZEL - 2012 Holloway prize runner-up

Personal secrets are hard to maintain in a shared community like the Internet. Ozel provides for confidential storage of data using public resources without requiring trust. Ozel uses multiple storage providers and is designed to allow providers to fail, disclose, or destroy the data provided them without disclosing any of the user's original data.

Kugi - Controling Rogue IoT devices

Entry in the 2016 New Hampshire Social Venture Innovation Challenge. Named after the japanese proverb: deru kugi wa utareru. The nail that sticks up gets hammered down. Kugi proposes to leverage the behavior of the IoT devices that perform as expected, to manage the small but impactful percentage of IoT devices that have been compromised. .
