New Stuff

Just wanted to make an announcement.  For the time being, I'm going to be doing one update a week.  It will be sometime every weekend.  The updates should become more regular once I get the laptop I ordered and can install Dreamweaver (yes, at some point in the near future, you won't have to look at this horrid template).  Then, of course, once I get rolling with this and get a little bit of a readership built up, I'll be moving off tripod to my own domain.

Film

Van Helsing:

The web site is up for next summer's Van Helsing flick.  Gotta say, I wasn't expecting much out of this one.  I wasn't a big fan of Sommers' Mummy movies, but everybody gets three strikes, right?  Anyway, there's a pretty cool animation that greets you on the website.  Plus, bonus points for Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale, so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.

Underworld:

Pics of the film are up at Creature Corner.

Pics of some toys over at Figures.com.

Halloween 9:

Yet another sequel has been greenlit.  Darkhorizons.com reports that the plot is a movie within a movie.  Apparently, some enterprising filmmakers decide to make a movie about Myers.  Myers, however, insists on playing himself, which doesn't bode well for his co-stars.

Comics

Dark Days: Sequel to "30 Days of Night" coming in June.  In case you're unaware, "30 Days of Night" is a comic book about vampires who converge on an Alaskan town during the month long winter night.  It stormed out of nowhere and is now in development as a film by Sam Raimi ("Spider-man").  The three issue run of "30 Days of Night" is selling for around $150 now, but a couple weeks ago they released a trade paperback, if you're interested in reading it.  FYI: the first run of books was autographed by the writer and artist.  The signed copies are sold out almost everywhere, though I had considerably more luck finding copies than most people.  If you can find one, grab it.  They're already selling on Ebay for double their cost.

Check the scoop on "Dark Days" over at Comic Book Resources.

Draculaland!!! How come athletes don't go here after the Super Bowl?

Mission Statement

Welcome. This is my first web page. I really know nothing about making web pages at this point, but I intend to learn. So be patient. This page is going to be devoted to the horror genre. Personally, I am a horror buff, and I've noticed a severe lack of well-rounded horror sites on the web. Don't get me wrong, there are some good sites, but they are all very specific. There are sites devoted to Anne Rice. There are sites devoted to games, like Masquerade. There are sites devoted to horror and Sci-Fi movies. There are a few sites that deal with the legends and the myths that started it all. What I have been looking for, and what I haven't found, is a one-stop site that deals with everything. I want a site where I can go and read about the real history of Dracula and Lycanthropy, and then click a link to read about Bela Lugosi and Lon Chaney, Jr. I want a site where I can check out the news and rumors for next summer's slasher flick and then click a link to read reviews of John Polidori's "The Vampyre". That's what I want, but that doesn't seem to exist. So, since it doesn't exist, I figure I should step up to the plate and do it myself. I know I don't have much experience, but I'm determined to make a good site. I'm determined to make a comprehensive site devoted to the genre.

Determination alone, however, is not enough. In order to make a comprehensive site, I need help. I need help from my readers. I want my reader's input. So, send me anything relative to the genre. Do you know something about a movie that is coming out or a book that will soon be published? Send it my way. Do you have some little-known information about some movie made in the seventies? I'll take it. Saw an advanced screening of a new flick? Definitely. Want to review a movie or book? I'll post it. Aspiring author? Send me your stories. Like I said, I want this to be comprehensive. With my work and your input, hopefully we can put something together.
