Drum Lessons Can Push You On

why take drum lessons

A student once told me that he found drum lessons to be very boring. I tried to explain to him that not everybody enjoys being around people, but it can be a challenge to be with a group. When you’re around a group, you can’t just play by yourself. It’s a whole other thing. Sometimes the difference between being liked or not, between feeling accepted or not, it can be roller coaster. When you’re around a group and you’re not playing, you definitely find yourself adjusting around to the new sounds and rhythms.

Yeah, sure I understand that. But it’s different when you’re playing. Playing? When you’re on your own, you can completely shrug it off. Don’t need it. Other people are stopping you all the time, and when you stop playing them, they can’t say anything nice about you because you just look like a idiot. But with a group, they have to say something. You can’t be passive about a group, you have to go out of your way to make everybody feel special even if it means acting like a jerk to them.

Do you know what’s special about groups? Because we act so differently from one another, but we can learn from each other. We have to learn from each other. The challenge is that when you study with a group that you’re with that you find out a whole lot about yourself and what you really are. Are you a social Leper? Do you have a dark secret? (Okay, I’m exaggerating a bit. I’m only kidding as in I have a natural talent for drumming just waiting to be unleashed.)

So as a drummer, you shouldn’t automatically go along with any social gathering, but you should add a unique flavor to them. If you want to make eye contact with the people you’re with, you make eye contact with them. If you want to be liked, you make eye contact with them. And if you want them to feel special, you make eye contact with them. But don’t be a paycheck skip. Don’t show up late and leave without saying hello.

My best drumming friend taught me this tip. Whenever I’m out with my drumming buddies, we stop for the night at a local bistro that has smoking guitars on the front counter. Just hanging out with our total strangers most likely most of them being an accountant near me. And we talk. Hike up a hill, enjoy the fresh breeze, taste some club communion classics while we messing around the campfire.

And talk. We don’t always have the opportunity to converse, but it happens. During the day, when you’re watching TV, put on the radio, and tune in to your favorite station. Always make eye contact with the people on either side of you.

Now, as your typical drummer, I’m going to be talking about using technology to enhance your senses in music.

My first iPad was purchased for me while I was on tour as lead singer of a band called “Eagor.” The band won a competition and got to travel with the drums and all of the other instruments. My iPad serves as a portal into the real world.

tastes change. And so do tastes in music. One friend of mine who is an aspiring songwriter plays mostly on an iPad. It’s nothing like owning an actual record player that you can manipulate with iTunes. The songs he crafts are incredible.

Wouldn’t it be incredible if you could create music anywhere, as long as you had access to a computer? If you wanted to, you could! In the comfort of your own home, in your motorcycle accident, in your garage… anywhere you want.

Let’s talk specifics. What if you had a computer at home that could help you create music? Do you know how? Well, I’m happy to say, you can! Because there are softwares revolutionizing the music industry just now. Specifically, Virtual Studio Technology software is now available to everyone, for their computer of choice, and it’s incredibly inexpensive, even free!

This is where it all started for VST. Remember it’s always been easy to create your own tracks, but just as easy to share your tracks with others. People had different experiences with two different programs that changed everything.

Things really started to change with the purchase of the Roland TB303. It’s a piece of kit that was in the heights of technology in its day. Propellerhead also released Reason 4 which is a software program that emulates MIDI and also copyrighted Virtual Studio Technology.

For me, this is the reason I’m interested in VST. Because these programs are beginning to strip away the fundamental elements people need to create music.

Aluminum Saxophones for Students

saxophone is a wonderful instrument

The saxophone is a wonderful instrument that is fun for students to learn to play. However, if the student wants to become a well-rounded musician, the student needs to simultaneously develop the other important skills that will contribute to a great musician. The saxophone is one of the most wonderful instruments for students to learn to play.

At the Robert Bass Guitar Center, we provide student saxophones in an array of prices. These include the popular soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones. We also have student saxophones priced according to the student’s budget. The prices vary on the model and brand. Saxophones are great for beginners and young players on a budget. In addition, we have a large selection of used saxophones available at reasonable prices. Saxophones are a lot of fun to play and learn on, but most importantly, they have a great melody. Our goal is to equip the student with as many instruments as possible that can contribute to musical creativity.

Most saxophones come with a case so that the instrument will be able to withstand the rigors of practice, performance, and transport. They should come with a proper mouthpiece, reed, and sometimes an extra key or two. If you want to know how to get these saxophone accessories, they can be purchased at your local musical instruments store. In the United States, you have a huge choice of mouthpieces, and there are many brands, types, and sizes. This means you can find a saxophone that fits your particular needs.

A word about saxophone cases: The quality of cases is a very important considerations when it comes to the health of your saxophone. There are two types of cases available today. These are soft covers and hard cases. The soft cover is much like a box that protects the instrument. The hard case is made of metal or wood promptu, so you will not need woodland construction to build or maintain your wood case for you.. The material used for the hard case is very important. A word about protection: Travelers and even an active musician should take extreme care in ensuring that their Saxophone isn’t scratched or broken while it is travelling. If the instrument is left in a boot, you must make sure that it is protected by means of a metal boot skin or a piece of soft leather. You must use extreme caution while applying commercial skin care products. These can cause Sharps (sharp spurs), to your horn.

Your saxophone should be tuned approximately every six months to one year depending on the temperature and humidity. Tuning problems are mostly caused by temperature and humidity. When the atmospheric conditions are poor, tuning will be more difficult and Glass on some instruments will be almost impossible to reach. The saxophone is mostly exposed to the extreme temperature and humidity conditions, and to a certain extent it is necessary to control these conditions. There are several common problems that cause difficulty in tuning the instrument, extreme temperature and humidity.

When no commercial saxophone has been fitted with a moisture chamber, and the instrument has been stored in a humid environment, it will prove to be more difficult to obtain commercial-grade saxophone reeds. An appropriate type of cane reed can be acquired only through personal consultation with your saxophone Teacher.

It is essential that you always use your saxophone and avoid using any type of reed that is not required by the instrument’s design.

Proper Care and Maintenance

Proper care and maintenance is necessary to maintain the type that you have become accustomed to and to guarantee long term service. The first step in proper care and maintenance is to familiarize yourself with the parts of the saxophone.

If you do not know how to use the parts, and are not capable of doing so, you may place it back in the shop. It may already be soldered closed, and it will have to be replaced before you can sell it. It is recommended that you avoid altering the horn’s parts as it may cause cracks, and the horn will become unable to focus or may otherwise not work.

The next thing to concern yourself with is realizing that saxophone reeds are difficult and delicate. They are made from thin cane that is found in very unsTANched areas. You must not shake the reed while it is melting because it may cause cracks, or the entire horn to be damaged. Make sure that you don’t use your fingers to tonguing or otherwise handling the reed. You can use your tongue to tongue the reeds if you must, but do not use your fingers for this purpose.

A saxophone reed that is not going to work will make it very difficult for you to get the clarinet to make buzzing sounds. Once you have found the reed that you need, and can it focus, you should avoid altering it at all. If you have to glue it back together, be very careful!

Of course, you can also mix and match the software programs so you can get the one that can make the beats you want out of all of the different ones that you can favorite.

Also be sure that your software offers a way for you to get training if you don’t know how to do it yourself. You don’t want to spend time and money only to not get the training that you need to continue making the best beats possible.

Of course, once you have all of the music software, you need to start learning about the different types of effects and how to use them. Use your music software to your advantage and start experimenting with the different effects and structures to create the piece of music that you are looking for.
