Clent Parish Church

St. Leonard’s is a pretty, rural church, set below the south flank of Clent and Walton Hills, in the north of the county of Worcestershire. We are part of the ‘Greater Dudley’ Deanery of churches in the Diocese of Worcester. Clent was formerly part of the United Benefice of Clent & Belbroughton with Fairfield. Recent re-organisation affiliates St. Leonard with the neighbouring churches of St. John and St. Saviour in Hagley, all under the guidance of the Rev. Richard Newton & Rev. Kim Topham.

In some western churches Eastertide lasts 50 days to conclude on the day of Pentecost or Whitsunday. The Second Sunday of Easter is also known in Western Christianity as Divine Mercy Sunday. The Third Sunday of Easter was also called Misericordia Sunday and Good Shepherd Sunday. The Fourth Sunday of Easter was also called Jubilate Sunday. The fifth Sunday is called Cantate Sunday. The Easter lily, a symbol of the resurrection in Christianity, traditionally decorates the chancel area of churches on this day and for the rest of Eastertide. __________________________________________________________________
