Located in Beaumont, Texas, the museum is dedicated to Thomas Alva Edison and his inventions and innovations.
The museum interprets Edison through interactive exhibits with two floors of exhibit space.
The museum offers visitors insight into Thomas A. Edison - “America’s Inventor.”
The museum is housed in the historic Travis Street Substation building in downtown Beaumont, Texas. We have more than 1,400 artifacts in our growing study collection and an expanding reference library. The museum is the only facility of its kind west of the Mississippi River.

Edison’s Childhood Years
Known as “Al” as a child, the youngest Edison was somewhat sickly and a concern for his parents as they had lost two children in infancy and a third would die before Al's first birthday.
The Practical Incandescent Light Bulb
Daily we turn them on and off. Edison and his assistants work nearly round the clock for months perfecting this, his best-known invention.
Travis Street Substation
The Edison Museum is located in the historic Travis Street Substation downtown Beaumont, Texas, next to the Edison Plaza Office Building. Travis Street came on line in 1929.
