Our policy is simple; to care for your horse as if it were our horse.

Our Facility

What makes us unique?

Our clinic facility allows us to hospitalize sick patients in need of intensive care. The foaling barn is equipped with video cameras and an elaborate electronic monitoring system so that we know the moment a mare is going into labor. Modern laboratory equipment allows us to perform complete blood counts, chemistry analysis, urinalysis and IgG testing with results available in minutes not days.

Our Services

Exclusive State of the Art Equipment

We’ve assembled the latest equipment to take care of your horse. Equipment that is digital and portable. We can radiograph your horse right in his stall. Our ultrasound equipment allows us to locate fractures and pregnancies. From sinuses to stomachs we have scope that will fit your horse. Our complete blood count and chemistry analyzer will have results on your sick horse in 15 minutes, not tomorrow.

Our Staff

Large Staff with Special Areas of Expertise

We are a group of horse lovers working together to take care of your horse. It starts with your first telephone call, we understand what it means to be holding a colicky horse. Our veterinary assistants are trained to assist with procedures, allowing you to focus on your veterinary visit. Our support staff is here to guide you to the best possible care for your horse.

Our Services

On-site Farrier Services

Much of our success with lameness cases comes from our partnership with farrier Rick Talbert. We can inject joints and tendons but if we don’t correct the root cause the horse is not going to do well. A graduate of the Auburn Horseshoeing School Rick is certified with the American Farrier Association. He brings and level of skill, equipment and patience like no other farrier in the central Georgia area. A lifelong student of farrier science, we regularly work together to correct podiatry problems and provide precise solutions to lameness issues. Rick brings a lifetime of skill and a wide inventory of therapeutic shoes and devices. When combined with accurate radiographs and a dedicated horse owner the results can be amazing.

We are committed to serving the horse owner in a professional and compassionate manner and to serve the horse with the best of our ability.

About Us

Our History

Owned and operated by Dr. Charlene Cook, Central Georgia Equine Services began in 1988. The business started small with one truck, one barn and one veterinarian. Over the next several years, the business grew and in 1993 a second barn was built followed in short order by the main clinic facility and the staff to provide the quality care you receive today. In addition to the main clinic, the facilities now include an isolation barn, a foaling barn, several private paddocks, and double fenced pastures situated on 70 acres of lush rolling pasture land.
