Update: Retiring American Flags

Due to updated local burning laws, HMMV no longer accepts retired American Flags to conduct proper disposal.
Information regarding how to retire your American Flag can be found here or here.

Located just off Interstate 80 in Lexington, Nebraska, the Heartland Museum of Military Vehicles (HMMV) is a non-profit organization operated by volunteers and funded through donations and grants.

Military Vehicles

The HMMV is home to around 100 authentic vehicles including helicopters, tanks, halftracks, ambulances, and jeeps from every branch of service- many of which are fully-restored and operational.

Vehicles date from World War II and include rarities such as a Downed Airman Retriever, one of only a handful remaining in the world.

This hands-on museum invites you to see, touch, and even sit in our unique inventory of vehicles.

Ongoing restoration projects continue with help from many sources.

Military Memorabilia

HMMV also features numerous displays of items and artifacts that were everyday necessities for soldiers. Included are a large exhibit of military weapons, uniforms, engines, equipment, and much more. Displays primarily include items from World War I onward, although a few Civil War weapons and artifacts are also included.

These displays seek to help guests gain a better understanding of the daily lives of U.S. soldiers. One exhibit teaches visitors about Meals Ready to Eat (MREs), and guests can even purchase authentic MREs from the gift shop.

Wanted: Display Cases

Our inventory is growing! Thanks to several recent artifact donations and acquisitions, HMMV is looking to obtain some new display cases to accommodate our expanding collection.

Please contact us if you are interested in donating or selling unused display cases.

The Museum’s founders have always felt that this should be a memorial “from the people, to the people.” If their dream of a national museum is to be realized, help from many sources is essential and greatly appreciated. Take a moment to reflect on the proud past of these authentic restorations and the men and women who served with them.
