What is Paintball?

Paintball is one of the fastest growing leisure activities in the UK.   Participants get split into teams and are armed with paintball markers (guns) which shoot paintball pellets to eliminate their opposition attempting to complete their teams objectives.  Objectives can range from capturing an item from your opponent’s base camp, defending a multi level 40ft towers, storming a castle.. and so on.

During the course of a typical paintball session players will encounter around 5 to 6 games of paintball and have a variety of game maps to play.

Players are equipped with Camo overalls and a set of paintball googles which provide protection to the eyes and face of the players.

Frequently Asked Questions

For juniors we would suggest a budget of between £30 and £35 a player for a good experience.   So for a party of 5 kids expect a total cost of around £150.   This would include Admission, Equipment rental, approx. 5 Games and around 300 -400 paintballs each.

For Adults a budget of approximately £50 for a session is reasonable for a decent go at it.   Paintballs do go quickly and the more players you shoot out, generally the more fun you have.   Cavet, if you wish to get more gun-ho, launching smoke grenades and upgrading your weapon your budget may need to be more around the £80 mark!

Remember though a paintball experience is a decent amount of the day out and not just an hour activity.   Prices are more similar to what you might expect to pay at a theme park for the day or a 2 hour go karting session.

Statistically speaking Paintballing is one of the safest sports to play. Players will be given a safety briefing before heading out to battle and are supervised on field at all times. The main risk is removing googles and being shot in the eye. Googles can withstand a shot from point blank range so as long as players adhere to the rules and guidelines the should encounter no issues. Paintballs can cause some bruising but mostly they just leave a red mark in the area the player is shot. Players can wear additional clothes to mitigate this but this is not always possible especially if playing in the summer when the temperature is likely to be higher. The main injuries are from players falling over, twisting an ankle or maybe even running in to a tree. Due to Paintball being a non contact sport injuries are less likely to occur paintballing then they would be in a game of football.

All sites have a slightly different policy but in general paintball is suitable from ages 11 years of age and above. What is more important is that the junior players are playing with teams where the ability is fairly matched. Good centre managers will have experience in knowing how to mix groups so that the games are not completely one sided.

Wherever you go for your paintballing day out we wish you a fantastic day ahead!
