CLASSICAL ACCORDIONIST HELPS THE CAUSE – The Ukrainian Canadian Association of Yukon will present a concert and dance this evening at the Mt. McIntyre Recreation Centre. Performing will be Ukrainian jazz and classical accordionist Taras Luka, from Odessa, with accompaniment from Dean Thiessen, Ragn Royle and Lonnie Powell. Above: Luka is seen at the Whitewater Wednesday Jam at the 98 Hotel. This evening’s first performance will be a sit-down, and the second a ‘rollicking Ukrainian jazz dance show for the second act.’ Doors will open at 6 p.m., with all proceeds going to UCAY’s efforts to support humanitarian aid in Ukraine. There will also be a Ukrainian jazz dance show Saturday at the Marsh Lake Community Centre.

WALKING FOR UNITY – ‘The Unity in the Community Walk’ took place at noon Friday after Thursday’s conclusion of the three-week coroner’s inquest into four women’s deaths at the Whitehorse Emergency Shelter. The inquest examined the factors surrounding the deaths of Josephine Elizabeth Hager, Darla Skookum, Cassandra Warville and Myranda Tizya-Charlie. See more on pages 3, 4.
