MMA Clothes Make for Great Conversation and More
MMA clothes have burst into stores with a fist full of dollars. The popularity of Mixed Martial Arts clothing is huge, and just keeps getting larger as the popularity of the sport becomes higher and more and more people become tolerant of the sport. Mixed Martial Arts, or MMA is a sport that is a combination of martial arts and fighting techniques. Contrary to most other sports, both striking and grappling is allowed, which makes MMA exciting and incredibly popular. The sport has recruited a huge fan base, and the clothing lines that are inspired by the Mixed Martial Arts are just as in demand as the cage fights are.    Continued....

OZ:  Kendall, I understand you’ve accomplished some major great strides in the Mixed Martial Arts World, what attracted you to the MMA competitions and bouts?
KTK:  I started taking MMA classes at Alan Belcher MMA Club after attending Summer Camp 2011.    During classes, lots of kids in my class and my Instructor, Jeremy South, discussed a tournament that was coming up called Louisiana Ju Jitsu.  This sparked my interest so we inquired about registration and how to participate in the competition.  I competed in my first competition November 5, 2011.  I LOVED it!  I placed 4th, but that was it!  I knew then I wanted to get better and better at Martial Arts and compete as much as possible.  I have always been very competitive in ANY sport I have participated in! I absolutely LOVE MMA!
OZ:  What sort of martial arts disciplines do you currently study?  Where do you train?  Who is your instructor(s)?
KTK:  The current Martial Arts I study are:  Ju Jitsu, Taekwondo, Kickboxing & Boxing.  These are ALL part of MMA.  I train at Alan Belcher MMA Club, 3179 Mallet Road Suite 21, D’Iberville, MS 39540 My Instructors are:  Ju Jitsu: Mike Sanford, Anne Sanford & JB Kara.  MMA:  Jeremy South

OZ:  Are you looking to add additional martial arts styles to your existing repertoire:
KTK:  Yes, I would like to add Wrestling & Sport Karate.

OZ:  How much time to you devote to Martial Arts Training each week?
KTK:  I devote myself 5-6 days a week, 2-4 hours a day.  I “usually” take off on Tuesdays and Sundays.

OZ:  Do you enjoy Sparring?  What do you like the most about it?
KTK:  Yes, I do enjoy Sparring.  I love to be offensive and punch, but right now at this rank, I only do point sparring, which is light power.  Recently I became a Brown Belt & will be adding Kickboxing to my Sparring.

OMEGAZONE IS PLEASED TO INTRODUCE A NEW BJJ COMPETITOR!!    Carlos (Mono Boy) Palacio
CARLOS PALACIO SPORTS AN OMEGAZONE RASHGUARD
Omegazone is proud to introduce Joey Thompson AKA "The Mechanic" AKA "The Ko Kid"!

Joey has a record of 3-0 in the rank of Amateur, boasting a 135 Lb. Qualifying Weight Title belt
From Griggs Entertainment on  05/30/2012 Beat Down in Vtown 3.

Joey hails from the small town of Lawrenceville, IL and trains with TEAM CONFLICT.
No stranger to all things MMA, Joey has a black belt in Tai Kwon Do and is studying boxing, kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu  and wrestling.  We ‘re in your corner!  Good luck in your next bout……………….

OZ- So, Joey….You have a couple of monikers, The Mechanic and The KO Kid, but, which is your favorite and why?
JT-I think ‘the ko kid’ is probably my favorite. I got the nickname the mechanic from some coworkers while I worked at a local John Deere so the name just never really stuck. ‘The KO Kid’ was given to me by promoter Josh Griggs after a 1st round tko victory (via spinning back kick) so it just makes more sense.
OZ- Tell me more about the belt picture.  What was it for and when?
JT-I received a 135lb. championship belt from a local event Beat Down In V-town 3 promoter Griggs entertainment. It was a second round victory via(rear naked choke) 05/30/12. The picture was taken a few minutes after while I was celebrating with fans.
OZ- In discussing with Amateur MMA contenders their ground game, how secure are you about yours?
JT-I’m actually extremely comfortable on the ground. I’m not belted for bjj nor am I a division 1 wrestler but I have studied and trained both for a very long. I probably wouldn’t want to do a grappling match with some of these higher level grapplers, but my submissions and submission defense seems to work well for me in the cage.
OZ- Do you have a favorite MMA Pro?  Why?  Do you incorporate his style at all?
JT-Favorite fighters are Dom Cruz,  Jake Ellenberger, and Lyoto  Machida. I focus a lot on Lyoto’s  style because of our similar martial arts backgrounds, we use similar kicks and set ups
OZ- For your upcoming bouts are you modifying any of your training to be more ready for opponents?
JT- I do not know the details on who I’m fighting just yet but I should be finding something out soon I hope! Right now I am focusing hard on some of my weaker areas along with a lot of strength and conditioning. Wrestling has been a big part of my camp because I feel that its my biggest flaw well that and proper diet!

Joey successfully defended his Title Belt on January 26th
in Sullivan for a new 4 & 0 record....
Congratulations from Omegazone!!!!!!
Cory, how much time do you devote to training each week?  Is that split between wrestling and boxing?
I split my time up between a full time job and my family then training and my training is a mix of boxing and wrestling with a little of bjj. Most of my recent training is cardio because i am cutting weight.
Are you using different trainers for each?  If so, who trains you for each and at which gym?
I have one main trainer right now and he is my health trainer for my weight training.
What comparisons can you draw between yourself and Randy Couture?
- Randy Couture was a wrestler and went into the army as well, and with that background began his career in fighting, and because of him i believe i can be a succesful fighter with my background.
Which is your strong suit- ground game or stand up?
My strongest point is my stand up game i can take a brutal beating in boxing and i can deliver a good strike, i have a pretty decent ground game with 5 years of wrestling.
How do you choose which tournaments or events you will fight for MMA?
My manager tells me what is coming up and we discuss possibilities.
weight class- right now i am at light heavyweight but i am cutting weight to be a middle weight.
What are your stats?
Weight Class
Height  5’9”
Weight  210
Arm Reach  72”
Age  24
Win/Lose Record  0-0
Ultimately, what do you hope to achieve through MMA style events?
My ultimate goal is to go pro and go up the ranks and some day into the UFC.
What’s coming up next for you on the fight calendar?
Me and my manager are looking to set up my debut fight in june or july and will take place in syracuse ny

CORY SABINS
Garrett, how much time do you devote to training each week?  Is that split between wrestling/grappling and boxing?
I spend about 11 hours a week training total.  I normally work striking for about 4-5 hours a week and grappling 3-4 hours.

Are you using different trainers for each?  If so, who trains you for each and at which gym?
I’ve trained at the American Pit Fighters since November 2011 and my coach is Dave Mann for striking and basic Jiu Jitsu.

What comparisons can you draw between yourself and pros we might be familiar with in MMA?
My dad has compared my basic style to Josh Neer because I can take a beating and I have a very good ground game. But I love Eddie Bravo’s 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu due to the amount of flexibility I have and how much it requires.

Which is your strong suit- ground game or stand up?
I have good striking skills but my ground game is my go to place.

How do you choose which tournaments or events you will fight for Ammy MMA?
My coach’s wife manages all the fighters at my gym but at the moment I won’t be able to fight for a while due to Illinois new MMA laws. But my cousin is a fight promoter in Missouri so I will probably work with him. I’ll also do any NAGA in the Midwest I can go to.

What are your stats?

Weight Class 135-155
Height5’9
Weight155
Arm Reach70 inches
Age16
Win/Lose Record 0-1 MMA , 1-1 NAGA, 4-8 Wrestling

Ultimately, what do you hope to achieve through MMA style events?
Eventually go pro.

What’s coming up next for you on the fight calendar?
NAGA Chicago is the next event. This summer I’m going to compete as much as possible and I’ll be going to and maybe a Muay Thai tournament this summer.
