About Us

The Anxiety and Stress Disorders Institute of Maryland, LLP (ASDI), originally the Anxiety Disorders Clinic of the Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital founded in 1978, became an independent treatment center in 1992.  Although we are still located on the grounds of Sheppard-Pratt Hospital in Towson, we are a private practice not affiliated with the hospital.

The mission of ASDI is to deliver the highest quality care to patients suffering from anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and stress-related problems. Every patient receives an individualized assessment and treatment plan based upon current knowledge in the field. Our staff of experienced specialists includes psychologists, social workers, and professional counselors. Many of our staff are also engaged in professional training activities both in the Baltimore area and nationally.

Why We Are Different?

We are a large multidisciplinary group of clinicians who are all specialists in the treatment of anxiety disorders and OCD. Each of us have sub-specialties including the interface between anxiety, OCD, and substance use, depression, ADHD, and trauma issues, as well as specific syndromes like panic attacks, obsessive compulsive spectrum disorders, and teens.

Fee and Insurance Information

Most insurance policies (but usually not HMOs) have "out-of-network" benefit plans which will reimburse patients directly for some portion of our fees. We encourage prospective patients to contact their insurance companies to determine their benefits for out-of-network outpatient mental health treatment, including relevant deductibles and requirements for pre-authorization if needed. At your prompting, ASDI clinicians will fill out treatment plans or call case managers to help you access your benefits for non-participating providers. We will also provide you with statements which document your diagnosis, payments and CPT codes so that you can file your own claims. However, as out-of-network providers, we no longer process claims or deal with collections from insurers.
