Cool Job of the Week Instructors with The Outdoor School (located on Lake LBJ in the heart of the beautiful Texas Hill Country) connect kids to the natural environment—a place where they can see, hear, touch, smell and even taste nature. Outdoor Education Instructors teach a pre-approved academic and adventure curriculum (including reptiles, water quality, kayaking, archery, outdoor survival, art in nature, and many more!), facilitate team building and high ropes courses, and lead interesting evening activities (astronomy, night sensory and games/campfire). Three weeks of training will provide you with the necessary knowledge in academics, ropes course, and anything else you need to thrive at TOS. Benefits include a weekly stipend up to $375/week and the ability to work for hourly pay on the weekend, free housing, utilities, WiFi access, most meals, Lifeguard and CPR/first aid certification, and pro deals.

Grow beyond yourself—Wisconsin Conservation Corps is seeking individuals of all talents and abilities!

Explore natural places, work outside, create lasting friendships, and get paid.

Program in the Spotlight Wisconsin Conservation Corps crews work and live together throughout the experience, eat healthy, minimize their impact on the Earth, and complete hands-on projects, build trails, manage habitats, and complete carpentry projects on publicly accessible lands. Crews stay together during their non-project time to participate in recreational activities, take care of chores, or travel to their next project site. Compensation includes $550/week for Leaders ($300/week for Members), plus meals, single occupancy tent camping or dorm-style housing, an AmeriCorps education award upon successful completion of service, and the chance to network with land management agencies and learn various land management techniques. Crew Leaders also participate in a five-week intensive training program to kick off the season. Through hands-on exploration and observation students will discover the connections between the non-living and living parts of an ecosystem.

Are you looking for an opportunity to learn, grow, and develop your teaching skills with the forest as your classroom in the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains of California?

Located in the Stanislaus National Forest, Sierra Outdoor School provides hands-on educational experiences for predominantly 4th and 6th graders over a 2-5 day period. After a paid training period, Naturalist Interns will teach hands-on science, cultural history, and team building activities to 4th-6th grade students as well as facilitate low ropes elements, the high ropes course, and belaying on the climbing wall. Interns will also have the opportunity to learn non-releasable raptor management including feeding, handling, and teaching with the birds as educational ambassadors. Internship commitment is from August 5th, 2024 – June 6th, 2025. Compensation includes a $2,640/month stipend, private bedroom in a shared house (you will never sleep in the dorms or supervise students overnight!), meals in the dining hall when students are being served, weekly food staples, WFA, CPR & AED training at no cost, $150 stipend towards a conference, paid trainings throughout the year, pro-deals with select outfitters, and job search counseling.

Cool Job of the Week Nestled in the in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina, Momentum is an outdoor adventure therapy program designed exclusively for struggling young adults ready to discover the best versions of themselves. Field Instructors play an integral role in this process, mentoring students as they engage in various program elements such as group backpacking trips in the mountains, adventure expeditions (rock climbing, canoeing, whitewater rafting, mountain biking, fishing and paddle boarding), base camp activities (equine care, culinary skills, gardening, service learning and college courses), yoga and mindfulness practice to manage the distractions of every-day life, and classrooms that reignite a love of learning through hands-on fun. Compensation includes $2,400-$2,850 per shift, PTO for Lead Instructors, $1,000/year for trainings, and health insurance coverage after 30 days.

Cool Job of the Week As one of the industry's most sophisticated nature-based therapy programs, Second Nature provides insight, direction and hope to struggling teens and their families. Field Instructors develop clinical qualities unrivaled in therapeutic wilderness care. Shelter building, friction fires, backpacking, mindfulness, simple daily chores, teamwork, relationship skills, problem solving, and life-changing lesson are all taught in the moment. The work week runs from Tuesday to Tuesday, with an eight-day on, six-day off schedule. In addition to a $1,100 sign-on bonus and limited affordable housing offered, Field Instructors begin earning $180/day for their first three shifts. Pay progresses up to $325/day as Instructor's work on personal and professional development for self-propelled level advancement.

Each Mentor also adopts a camper cabin for the summer term and serves as a valuable adviser and support system for the cabin counselor and campers. Summer job opportunities include Mentors, Cabin Counselors, Activity Leaders, Expedition Leaders, Program Interns, and medical staff. Creative, self-motivated, and open-minded applicants must have a college degree (or equivalent experience) with knowledge of the environment and a true passion for teaching children. Mentors must be at least 24 years of age and WFA certified.

Instructors/Facilitators will lead land and water-based outdoor adventure programs that include canoeing, kayaking, rafting, stand-up paddle boarding, sailing, surfing, fishing, rock climbing, mountain biking, environmental education, farming, horseback riding, and general camping. In addition to financial compensation ranging from $600–$1,000/week, benefits include meals for all overnight trips, 5-10 days of paid training and summer preparation, pro deal purchases, use of program equipment for personal adventures, and compensation for advanced training or certifications in specific areas.
