Since 1983, Butler Winery has been producing award winning wines from Indiana grown grapes. We are proud to showcase the terroir and unique flavors that Southern Indiana has to offer.
As the weather gets warmer, the grape vines are beginning to spring to life! The buds have emerged from their dormancy over the winter and have begun their growing cycle for the 2024 season.
With six different grape varieties being grown on our estate, they don’t all come out at the same time. Some grape varieties bud out earlier than others. Pictured is our Chardonel grapes. This variety is always one of our first vines to emerge every spring. You can see this vine is already producing its first leaves.
The next step in the vineyard will be to prune the vines back to balance the crop load on the vine so that it doesn’t struggle trying to support too much fruit.
