Calligraphy as Art
Wedding invitations, certificates, envelope addressing and other social & business types of calligraphy & special commissions. A complete lettering & graphic design studio for logos, calligraphy & lettering for brand identity, packaging & book jacket design & documents. Both artists (Joyce & John) do one of a kind artworks by commission.
Classes in calligraphy are offered several times a year in Joyce’s studio. Beginners are welcome. Joyce also teaches at many venues throughout North Carolina, like Sawtooth School of Visual Arts, and others.
Cheerio Calligraphy Retreats are a well known calligraphy & bookarts workshop / retreat held twice a year in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina.(Current Classes) For one week in the spring and one week in the fall, participants have access to quality, uninterrupted study / work time, and exposure to two world-renowned calligraphic or book artists. The beauty of mother nature, combined with great food and the best instructors provides the perfect inspiration to relax and learn.

About Jim Teta
Jim is cofounder (along with Joyce) of Cheerio Calligraphy Retreats. He is the support system who 35 years ago started the dream that has now become the main destination for the study of letters and bookwork in the Southeast, attracting students from around the world.
Joyce Teta Bio
Joyce has been doing calligraphy and book-making for decades. She exhibits regularly, teaches classes for beginners and is founder of Cheerio Calligraphy Retreats (with her husband, Jim).
John Stevens Bio
John is calligrapher, author, teacher and designer. He has taught calligraphy in many cities in the US, Europe, South America and Japan. He is a teacher at Cheerio.
