Why I Love it When Businesses Add “Speedy” to Their Name

I love it when a business has the word “speedy” in their name! This is not a joke… Why do I love it? I love it because no matter what it is I like my products and services to be speedy. That means they come fast, there’s less waiting time and I get what I want when I want it. But often some companies and businesses with the word “speedy” in their title aren’t that swift at all. But I still call them just because I love that word. Click here for full definition of the word speedy.

So, if you’re reading this and you think you want to start a business someday, use the word “speedy” and you’ll get more calls, trust me.

Another reason why I love it when businesses use the word “speedy” in their name is because I know the owners understand what good business practice should be all about. Imagine if there was a golf course equipment supplier who named their company “slow golf equipment delivery“, would you call them for service? I sure wouldn’t.

A great example of a business with “speedy” in their title is “Speedy Mould Removal” which focuses on mold remediation Victoria BC service. A friend of mine who is too old to use a computer (but never too old to golf) asked me if I could use the internet to help him find a quick mould remediation company for his attic, and can you guess what company I called? You guessed it! Speedy Mould Removal is a great example because they’re also fast and that’s what I like.

It might be partly because, if you know anything about me, you’ll know I’m not that patient which is why I use golf as a means to practice patience, that I like my results to come with speed. But that’s fine because there’s nothing worse than results that come way too slow… and so now you know WHY I LIKE THINGS SPEEDY!

Thanks for reading speedily 😉

Where you drive the ball… A life lesson explained.

If you’re into golfing and you like metaphors than here’s a blog post for you. At Cart Stuff Depot we like a “challenging thought” every once in a while, and I’ve been thinking that driving the golf ball where you want it to go is a great metaphor for life. Here is my lesson explained:

I often hear that we become what we think about. If that’s true, I wonder why it’s so hard to get the golf ball where you want it to go sometimes, even after thinking so hard about the green where you want it to land.

My wonderings brought me to some wanderings where I like to pass through the trails of my local golf course walking my dog, watching others perform my favorite pastime. I watch some people hit the ball and watch it soar to exactly where they want it, and I watch others hit the ball and grumble to see that their ball is nowhere desirable at all.

Seeing this contrast of success and failure on the golf course is like walking down any busy downtown street and seeing some people in fancy electric cars and others begging for cash on the curb. If the big difference between these lucky folk and the not-so-lucky is what we think about, then why can’t I ever get a hole in one!?

I finally came to the conclusion that I can get a hole in one, I just don’t believe enough in myself yet nor have I tried hard enough. And there it is. We can’t get a hole in one every time but, if we pursue it enough, eventually we will. And that’s why we become what we think about, with persistence and practice.

Where to go in Hamilton Ontario

hamilton ont

I just came back from Hamilton Ontario a little behind schedule thanks to the Canadian trucker convoy of 2022. But hey, Canada is better to travel in than most places despite this hiccup. I wanted to share a bit about my experience in Hamilton as well as what attractions I would recommend.

My experience was great but mostly because I haven’t traveled with my good buddies in a long time so it would’ve been great no matter where we went. It was funny, on our first night there we can to get the car repaired at the best auto shop Hamilton could throw at us without a minute’s warning, a friendly place called Tip Top Auto Body, but that wasn’t going to be our first attraction. Once that was over we checked out some real attractions. The winter weather made these attractions slightly less attractive but in hindsight I’m so glad I went because these memories are great.

First we went Dundurn Castle which would be my first recommendation. Then we went to Gage Park for a lunch picnic and had a blast enjoying the scenery. Some sunshine would’ve made it perfect. Then we checked out a place called the Devil’s Punchbowl. Don’t tell anyone but we enjoyed a few beers there before we headed to downtown Hamilton for dinner at a place called The Ship on Augusta Street. It’s very cool there and the food had good Canadian flavor.

If you want a full list of where to go in Hamilton though try this link for TripAdvisor.

Merry Christmas from CartStuffDepot.com

christmas social connections

Christmas is our favorite time of year, as shoppers at heart. If you love shopping like us then you probably had to learn the hard way that gift-giving is not the meaning of Christmas. Whatever this time of year means to you, we want to welcome you and thank you for being here. We truly mean it when we say merry Christmas!

We’ve been talking about Christmas since September, for good reasons. This is the time of year when families can come together. It’s important to have social connections and my heart goes out to everyone who has to spend this Christmas alone. Whether it’s due to lockdown restrictions or difficulty in travel due to snowfall, I wish you can find a way to connect with those you love through the Internet or mail.

If you didn’t know how important social connections are for our health, here is an amazing podcast that I highly recommend. Huberman Lab’s latest episode is all about this subject. Enjoy! And once again, merry Christmas!

The Joys of Christmas Gift Shopping During a Pandemic

Watching all your classic and favorite Christmas movies might seem strange this year, after living in a pandemic… Look at all the lovely people hugging with out masks, filling up the malls with their shopping carts. It’s all so strange, isn’t it? Christmas shopping used to be so fun. Now, we must find new ways to make it fun, because if good luck going to the mall to shop like you used to. But I’m not here to complain about mandates and regulations. I want to make Christmas fun this year, no matter what I need to sacrifice in the name of health and safety. Keep in mind while reading this that I am trying very, very hard to not make this sound like a satire.

This is why I thought of several fun ways families can enjoy their Christmas gift shopping in 2021 without leaving the home:

  1. With your family, dress up like you’re going shopping to the store but instead of leaving the house make believe that you’re going to the mall by pretending your computer is a cash register.
  2. Get your family in the car and drive down to the four corners of your town, and drive in circles all day, staring in the windows, pretending you’re shopping and everything is normal.
  3. Open your blinds and stare at the houses on your street, pretending their stores. Now close your eyes and imagine yourself entering them, choosing the perfect gifts for your loved ones.
  4. Screw it, just go online and buy some stuff. It’ll all be over soon….

Why you should consider getting an electric car

electric car

Shopping for a new car? This is why you might want to consider going electric…

At least once a year one of my friends or family members will announce they’re shopping for a new car or surprise me by already buying one. It’s quite common, really. But, in 2021, I was upset after several of my friends bought new cars and didn’t for one second consider that, hey, it’s 2021 and electric cars are a great investment.

Perhaps writing this piece is pointless because in 10 years from now people will automatically transition to electric vehicles without my ramblings. But I’ll ramble anyways, or give my anecdote at least, because I’ve been driving an electric golf cart for 3 years now and, let me tell you, nothing beats electric. Nothing. Consider this an opinion piece, or a testimonial at the least, for I truly believe my friends and family would’ve been better off buying an electric car instead of one powered by old-fashioned rising gas prices…

tesla vehicle

Here are my 3 reasons why I think my friends made a bad choice by not going electric:

  1. Sure, you might pay a bit more upfront to transition to owning an electric car, but in the long run you’ll save lots of money because you won’t need to buy gas anymore. Instead of gas, your household electric bill will be a little higher when you charge your car at night, but at the end of the year you’ll notice you still saved hundreds if not thousands of dollars, especially if your car is shared by the whole family.
  2. Companies like Tesla Motors are out there doing their best to make electric cars even faster and more powerful than conventional fuel-powered cars. For example, the upcoming Tesla Cyber Truck has already proven it can handle more abuse and has more power than the vast majority of other gasoline or diesel trucks. So if your argument is that you can’t go electric because you need horse power or more torque than what an electric truck can handle, then you need to refresh yourself with the most recent science and look at the data. Electric trucks, I predict, in the next decade will be so powerful they’ll make today’s gasoline trucks look like children’s toys.
  3. Personally, this third reason why you should consider going electric is the reason I’ll be investing in an electric car this year. I may only have an electric golf cart at the moment, but my current vehicle, a sedan from 2003, has broken down so many times and since it’s so old there are no warranties when I need repairs or towing service. Believe it or not, but I’ve paid more this year in towing costs than in gasoline costs. Brand new electric vehicles rarely ever break down, and the warranties are to die for! I truly look forward to the day when I’ll never need to order a tow truck service again.

Thank you for reading my ramble and I hope this piece will convince my friends and family, if not my sincere readers, to go electric; not because I want to save the environment per se, but because I want my friends and family to have a better quality of life and save money. There are hundreds of other reasons each individual might have for switching to an electric car. What’s yours? Please, contact us to share your opinion.

Bye for now.
