About us

We are a local group of Cycling UK  which campaigns for and provides information and services to cyclists.  Our main activities are:

Wednesday Wobbly Wheelers

This is a small club that caters for experienced adult cyclists.  We do not race -  our speed is about 8 -13 mph.  Our aim is to enjoy the day and the scenery wherever we go. We often use National Cycle Network routes, or other off and on-road routes, and sometimes take the train for example to Portadown to cycle to Newry or to Whitehead to cycle around Islandmagee.  When we travel by train we bring folding bikes when possible.

The members are notified by email on Sundays about the ride for the coming week.  Our run takes place on Wednesdays.  We usually depart from Lanyon Place Railway Station (May's Meadow level) at 10.00am and bring a packed lunch but we might also stop at a cafe.

Information about the group rides

Our main activities are:

  • Wednesday Wobbly Wheelers group usually meets at Lanyon Place Railway Station (May's Meadow level) in Belfast, departing 10am.  Our routes will be a radius of around 30 miles.  We mostly follow off-road routes and country roads whenever possible - but not always.  We do sometimes use trains to go further afield when we would use folding bikes to cut down on congestion in the carriage.  We cater for adults who are experienced cyclists.  Our speed would be a leisurely 10-12mph and distances covered could be anywhere between 20 and 60 miles in a day, stopping for lunch (which we usually bring with us) at around 12:00-13:00 or we might stop at a convenient cafe.
