Global Call to Action for Heritage Language Education
We are asking for your support in raising awareness for Heritage Language Education.
On the occasion of UNESCO’s International Mother Language Day 2024, which celebrates students’ universal right to study their heritage languages, a new global think tank of academics and practitioners have created an easy-to-use list of recommendations for everyone – from students to mainstream schools to policy-makers – to strengthen heritage language and culture education for multilingual children worldwide. The Global Call to Action for Heritage Language Education was launched on February 21, 2024 and is supported by many domestic and international stakeholders including the GLSC.
If you want to help heritage language educators and the children they support, please pledge commitment to the Global Call to Action publicly on social media and share it widely within your networks!

Founded in 1978, the German Language School Conference (GLSC) is the only national organization dedicated to the needs of community-based German language schools in the United States. Our mission is to link member schools with a central organization for information and support. We assist in the establishment of new language schools and provide a forum for sharing experiences and advice.
The GLSC serves as a resource to language schools for best practices, administrative information and policies to further our common goals of maintaining and fostering the language and culture of German speaking countries in the US. We represent the interests of our member schools to German and US government agencies, professional organizations and other stakeholders.
