What we do
Idiagram is a small consulting firm focused on helping our clients and partners address complex systemic problems. We provide systems-thinking theory, tools and processes to address ‘collective action problems’ – where collaborative innovation and alignment across diverse stakeholders is required to accelerate scale and impact.
Our mission is to unleash the power of our collective-intelligence; using collaborative system-mapping as a tool to open up new spaces for innovation, and enable more rapid progress on the pressing systemic issues we face. We work in close partnership with our clients – corporations, foundations, governments, NGOs, consultants – to foster deep evidence-based understanding, effective collaboration, and coherent action.

We provide a mix of services tailored to each particular project’s requirements:
Research –
System Analysis & Synthesis
Via desk research and interviews, we assist in defining the problem, and in compiling the ‘evidence-base’ that describes how the system works, and where it fails. We then integrate that information into a wholistic view of the system’s structure and dynamics.
System Mapping
Our primary area of expertise is in applying systems mapping as a tool for integrating our shared knowledge and collaboratively generating more innovative and effective solutions. System mapping can serve variously as a tool for knowledge management, as a catalyst for deep knowledge-based strategic conversations, as hub for collaboration, and as a means to effectively communicate sophisticated ideas.
Collaboration & Communication
We help facilitate strategic conversations and workshops; building shared understanding, trust, ownership, and the commitment to move forward together. As we move from strategy-making to implementation, we re-deploy the maps to communicate the vision to a wider audience.
Application Areas
The systems tools we use are quite general purpose; applicable wherever there is complex knowledge to visualize, and/or a diverse group of people who must work together towards a common solution. However, we feel this approach is most relevant to – and we have a particular expertise in – the broad area of advancing new sustainable and equitable economic models: sustainable finance, production, and consumption, new business models, natural capital and commons management, etc.
