Best known during the exhibition years abroad for my series of backstage paintings in Monte Carlo of orchestra rehearsals, circus, jazz and cabaret, I now paint only by commission – portraits, military campaigns and commissioned work of every sort.
This can involve a complicated lunch party on a yacht – or even a Champion racing pigeon! The often referenced portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother, to celebrate her hundredth year, and the first official portrait of The Prime Minister David Cameron in 2011 both attracted a lot of media interest.
On other interests, I play jazz piano, write trumpet fanfares for weddings as well as contemporary jazz pieces, have enjoyed tinkering with vintage cars over the years, fly private aircraft and watch the weeds growing.
