2024-2025 Season Announcement

The Memphis Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Robert Moody announce an exciting 73rd season of concerts.

The season begins and ends with works by the Russian powerhouse, Rachmaninoff - the virtuosic piano showpiece Variations on a Theme of Paganini and his masterwork Second Symphony. For the second year in a row, the MSO will team up with Opera Memphis for a special one-night-only Mozart themed concert inspired by the music from the acclaimed movie, Amadeus, including his towering Requiem. Concerts will include works like Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, and Symphonic Dances from Bernstein’s West Side Story. The MSO will feature the Memphis premiere of the new Michael Gandolfi Piano Concerto with legendary soloist Marc-André Hamelin.

The MSO is committed to making inclusion central to every concert and programs soloists and music of composers whose voices have traditionally been underrepresented. This includes the Coleridge-Taylor Violin Concerto, a new work by Karena Ingram, and featured soloists Shantanique Moore (MSO principal flute) and Sphinx Competition Winner Hannah White (violin).

The MSO will start and end the season with outdoor, family-friendly concerts at The Grove at GPAC, The Dixon Gardens, and the Overton Park Shell. And don't miss the annual holiday traditions of Magic of Memphis and Handel's Messiah.

We hail from a city built on music. Its soul is made of notes, rhythms, and harmonies - harmonies we all share. Though each of us may do it differently, together we contribute to the big Bluff City song that defines us as the scrappy, authentic, kind, and welcoming city we are. From Beale to the Shell, from Soulsville to the bridge, we are underscoring the opus of the 901.
