What MUGSS does..

..and how to get involved.

Join the cast

The cast are the more extroverted side of the society, rehearsing each week from the start of term until the show.

MUGSS welcomes cast members of all abilities and experience, taking those whose last experience of theatre was anywhere from the lead role in a local theatre show, to the part of the grandfather clock in a school play – and performing together in what is usually an award winning show.

Or join the crew

The crew does everything that doesn’t involve singing or dancing on stage!

This covers the obvious construction of scenery, lighting and costumes, but it also covers producing props, video and sound recording, being front of house and a whole host of other things behind the scenes.

The crew typically meets twice a week on Wedenesday Evenings from 6pm and Saturdays from 1pm.

Socials

But that’s not all!
MUGSS is an incredibly social society, when we’re not singing and dancing or building set pieces, we have a wide range of regular socials such as pub meets, parties, balls and so much more.

Why not join?

Sign up to receive our weekly digest email, full of all the latest news about rehearsals, crew sessions and upcoming socials and events.

If you’d like to perform with us, we hold rehearsals at least every Wednesday evening (check our Facebook page for locations and timings).

If being on stage isn’t your dream, then why not join our crew?
We create all our own props, costumes and scenery every year, and our set-pieces have previously included a steam train, a working 10-foot roulette wheel, an on-stage river and a giant fibreglass tree!
The crew meets on Wednesdays and Saturdays in our workshop on the University of Manchester’s North Campus.

We’re also an extremely active social society, with a trip to a pub or bar after every rehearsal or crew session, and several parties throughout the year.
If you’re interested in getting involved, join our Facebook group or email our committee.
