3M Presents Grant to NRMC Foundation

Representatives from 3M Manufacturing in Nevada recently presented a Home Town Grant to the NRMC Foundation in the amount of $5,000. The company has a goal each year of providing grants to communities where 3M has a strong presence. Pictured above from the left are 3M representatives Linda Daniel, Dana Ellis and Nancy Stork – along with NRMC CEO Jason Anglin. Anglin expressed thanks for the gift and said that he will put it to good use in purchasing new equipment for the hospital. NRMC Foundation Chairman Betsy Curtis said, “It’s always encouraging to see businesses and individuals within our community show such strong support for our hospital.”

Dr. Nathan Box, Otolaryngologist, recently expanded his services at NRMC to include sinus surgery.

Chronic sinusitis, or recurrent sinus infections, tend to cause a blocked, congested nose. Patients may experience headaches, pressure in the face and sometimes the sense of smell will be impaired. An additional unpleasant side effect may be post-nasal drip - mucus that drips down the back of the nose/throat. For those that suffer from these constant sinus symptoms and conventional medicines have been unsuccessful, this surgical treatment may be an option.

The goal of sinus surgery is to remove swollen and infected tissues, widening of the nasal passages to increase air flow and remove any potential growths or polyps. Recovery varies by patient and severity of symptoms, but most can expect to fully resume normal activities within a couple weeks.

Dr. Box provides Ear, Nose & Throat services every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

His offices are located on the 2nd floor clinic of the south tower at NRMC. Appointments can be made by calling 417-448-2121.

NowCare Clinic Expanded Hours

Nevada Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce that the first phase of expansion of hours for the NowCare Clinic will be effective Monday, August 7th. Early morning & evening walk-in hours, from 7am until 7pm, will occur on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Additional hours of expansion will occur over the next several months.

Chelsay Langford, FNP-C, will be available to see patients during these walk-in hours. Mrs. Langford has over 10 years of nursing experience and received her Masters from Graceland University in 2023. She has been an NRMC team member since 2016.

CEO Jason Anglin stated “we are pleased to get this first phase of expanded hours started as an option for those in our community. The walk-in availability to meet those needs prior to and after school or work is a key focus in getting NowCare back to serving its main purpose – when you need care you need it Now.”

Further announcements will be made via NRMC’s website, www.nrmchealth.com, Facebook page and other media outlets when additional expansion of hours are planned.

NRMC Earns 5-Star Rating

Nevada Regional Medical Center recently earned a 5-star quality rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the highest rating a hospital can achieve. The overall star rating is based on 48 quality measures in five different categories. To earn a 5-star rating, NRMC met or exceeded the national benchmark in all 5 categories, which include: mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience, and timely and effective care.

“We are most pleased with the recent news that NRMC has been designated a 5-Star Hospital,” says Jason Anglin, NRMC's Chief Executive Officer. “This has certainly been a team effort, as everyone has pulled together to consistently provide our patients with excellent care and quality services. Nationwide, only about 14% of hospitals achieve a 5-Star Rating.”

Nevada Regional Medical Center believes that their continued commitment to "Caring with P.R.I.D.E." (Professionalism, Responsibility, Integrity, Dedication, and Excellence) has helped them earn this prestigious 5-star rating.

Christi Keating

Christi Keating - Chief Nursing Officer

Helping and loving people is what drew Christi Keating to nursing over 20 years ago. Now, as the new Chief Nursing Officer at NRMC, she can’t help but fulfill that desire. Keating earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at Pittsburg State University in 1999 and since then has served in several roles including many within emergency departments. “Helping people in their time of need has always come easy for me and very quickly into my career I realized I wanted to do more than just meet medical needs. I wanted to impact people at a personal level.”

Keating went on to get her Master’s degree in Health Administration (MHA) and has served in various leadership roles in Fort Scott and Pittsburg before coming to NRMC. “From the moment I first interviewed for this job, I knew that going back to the hospital setting was where I belonged. I am very excited to be a part of NRMC and look forward to what the future holds.”

Samantha Elkins

Samantha Elkins - CPC

After applying several years of on-the-job training, online schooling and countless hours of studying, Samantha Elkins has passed the four-hour exam required to become a Certified Professional Coder (CPC). It has definitely not been an easy path for Samantha, losing friends and loved ones along the way and initially failing the CPC Exam by one point. So - for her hard work, perseverance and pure grit, we offer her our congratulations for a job well done.

Amber Brundbridge

Amber Brundridge - CRT

Last month our very own Amber Brundridge, CRT, was nominated by the Missouri Southern State University Respiratory Therapy Program students for the Clinical Preceptor Award. This clinical award honors a preceptor who demonstrates commitment to excellence in clinical education, has an exemplary positive attitude, and shows professionalism in the workplace. The individual honored must demonstrate a broad knowledge of respiratory concepts and skills, be able to explain the basis for actions and decisions made in patient care and be able to connect information to broader concepts. They should also be able to answer students’ questions in a clear and concise manner and communicate clear goals and expectations. We are all so proud of Amber for exemplifying all of these traits and for receiving this prestigious nomination.
