NEW ZEALAND TOURING CAR WEBSITE

The New Zealand Touring Car Website was Established in 1998 for the 1997/98 Schedule S 2.0 litre Touring Car Championship. Webmaster Tony Bunyan saw a need to provide motor racing fans with more information about the series. The internet, with its ability to provide this information almost instantaneously to anyone world wide seemed the obvious medium to achieve this goal.

The site is a result of his skills in web authoring, design, photography and journalism. No one on the New Zealand Internet scene has had as much experience bringing Motorsport directly from the track to the Web!

Highlights in the 1998 Season included an extension of 2.0 litre racing with a New Zealand Racing Drivers Club promoted Series and the inclusion of the New Zealand Schedule S Cars in the AMP Bathurst 1000. The inclusion of the cars came in part as a result of a chance meeting between Tony Bunyan and then Bathurst Management's Greg Eaton at the Australian Formula One Grand Prix in March 1998.

1999 will see the return of long distance racing to the Pukekohe Raceway in Auckland and a chance for the 2.0 litre cars to compete against the formidable V8s in the Drivesafe 500.

Information and photographs from the website has been used by agencies as diverse as Australia's Channel 7 Sport to Editor of the Touring Car World Annual, Fabio Ravioli.

In addition to running the NZTC Website, Tony used his expertise to co-ordinate and update the Queenstown Goldrush "Race to the Sky" [www.racetothesky.co.nz] Automotive Hillclimb Website. This international race is the sister event to the famous Pikes Peak Hillclimb and attracts a huge television and internet audience.

More recently the New Zealand Touring Car Website hosted the NZRDC's endurance classic, the Drivesafe 500.

Tony is particularly interested in developing and advising organizations looking to promote one off motorsport events and covering international races for motorsport websites.
