Sixth Sunday of Easter

Dear Friends,

You may have read about the Bishop’s Pastoral Plan in one of our newsletters or picked up a copy of the plan and read all the details for yourself. Well, we are now at the point where some actions will need to be taken by all of us. The Bishop’s plan is to turn existing deaneries (which consist of 4 or 5 separate parishes) into one new ‘moderated’ parish. This is being driven by the decline in the number of priests and will result in a small team of priests covering all the churches within their deanery/moderated parish. The process of change for our current deanery starts in June, and we all need to be actively involved. There will be communications going out, and everybody will be invited to give feedback and participate in the process. We especially need you to give thought and prayer as to what you can do to help the work of the church. Your priests cannot do everything, and we are, all of us, called to Discipleship. The church will offer formation (training) for people who wish to offer their time in this way. This will give you more confidence in carrying out these activities.

God bless you all,

Fr John

  • Just a reminder that we have two card readers in the church porch if you’d like to donate to the Offertory and Retiring Collections by card or pay for items in the Repository by card. Please kindly note that we are unable to accept donations by QR code. Thank you for your continued generosity.

This weekend’s retiring collection is for CAFOD’s Sudan Crisis Appeal.

CAFOD Sudan Crisis Appeal 2024

The situation has become desperate very quickly. At least 8 million people have had to flee their homes. at least 25 million Sudanese need immediate, emergency help.

Families are already going hungry. Famine looms ominously. This crisis threatens to become the worst in living memory. Due to the intense violence that broke out last year,

many aid agencies evacuated and are now struggling to get back in due to the closed borders. The Church is still there and their network is working tirelessly to help.
