ADVOCACY UPDATE PA House passes bill restricting non-compete clauses

On April 17, the state House of Representatives passed House Bill 1633, which would limit the use of non-compete clauses, also known as restrictive covenants, in health care provider contracts. The bill passed with bipartisan support by a vote of 150-50. The PAFP supports prohibiting the use of restrictive covenants in physician employment contracts to help improve access to health care for all Pennsylvanians. The bill now moves to the Senate for consideration. Read the PAFP's memo of support.

 

NEW RESOURCE: PA Insurance Department Offers Review of Denied Patient Health Insurance Claims

If your patient's health plan has denied a service, treatment, or item, they may be eligible to request a review of the decision. The Independent External Review allows patients to share why their request should be covered. An independent group of experienced doctors and health care professionals will review the case. If the review determines that the request should be covered, the patient's health plan must do so. Access online submission portal.
