Imagination and Education

The most neglected tool in education today is the imagination. Every child has an imagination. What can we do to nurture it and make it grow?

True education is more than mere mechanics. If we educate the child only to the mechanical aspects of daily life -- the ability to memorize and recall, the ability to do numerical compututations, the ability to recognize words and read them flawlessly -- we've not yet fully educated the child.

To become a completely fulfilled adult, the child most learn how to imagine a life for him or herself and learn how to walk forward towards that life.

Our freedom as adults depends on our ability to imagine as children.
