Welcome to

All Souls Church!

At All Souls, our mission is to welcome all who seek fellowship in our liberal religious tradition; to nurture the spiritual well-being of our children and ourselves; to show that people can transcend differences; to nourish and enrich each other in a common spiritual quest; and to provide information and opportunities for members of All Souls and others to act upon the issues of injustice and inequity.

Unitarian Universalist Principles

We affirm and promote:

  • The inherent worth and dignity of every person;

  • Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;

  • Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;

  • A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;

  • The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;

  • The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all; and

  • Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

  • We, the member congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association, covenant to affirm and promote: journeying toward spiritual wholeness by working to build a diverse multicultural Beloved Community by our actions that accountably dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions.

I'm Denise. I am a woman of indigenous Zapotec ascendancy, originally from the state of Oaxaca Mexico. I am part of the founding team of the Network Without Borders for survivors of violence.

Through my personal experiences as a survivor of violence, a desire was born in my heart to one day support women who go through similar difficult experiences.  Later, I had the opportunity to study and work on the broader issue of violence against women. After relocating to the United States, I had to rebuild my dreams and plans for the future. I began dreaming of an organization that would support women in Oaxaca by providing safe refuge and opportunities for them to rebuild their lives after leaving violent environments.  I found like-minded colleagues who embraced this project.  We also recognized the need for a space in Connecticut where we could build a community with survivors and supporters, offering workshops, and educational and healing activities.  Additionally, we plan to open a store featuring products made by women in Oaxaca, with sales proceeds strengthening their economic empowerment.  We are working tirelessly to make these two spaces a reality. This year we officially established ourselves as a non-profit organization and will launch our first series of workshops in the second half of the year.
