REMEMBERING BOB THOMAS
Bob passed away Monday, February 26, 2024, after a long fought battle with Chronic Lymphatic Leukemia (CLL) and Lymphoma.
In heartfelt remembrance, Paradigm mourns the loss of a dear friend and collaborator, Bob Thomas. Bob's commitment to Paradigm was evident through his continuous consulting with the guard. His dedication went beyond the mere exchange of ideas; he eagerly reviewed videos and consistently offered words of advice, leaving an indelible mark on our collective journey.
Bob's judging escapades were legendary; he scrutinized Paradigm throughout the years with a keen eye and even took of our staff members under his wing on their judging journey. Anyone who crossed paths with Bob couldn't forget the distinctive sight of him sprawling "Role and Character" in giant letters on his judging sheet. This led to entire rehearsals dedicated to perfecting performer responsibilities, all thanks to Bob.
One unforgettable moment in 2004 saw Bob judging a local show and leaving us with the sage advice, "Effect can also be derived from excellence.. Find count one." This gem led to a post-show critique where Bob underscored the importance of "finding count one," prompting an entire rehearsal dedicated to the relentless pursuit of that elusive first count. Years later, we still shared laughs and inside jokes about that memorable day, forever cherishing his unique impact on our journey.
Bob's laughter and wisdom will forever be cherished. In this difficult time, our deepest thoughts go out to his family and friends. Bob's legacy lives on through the indelible mark he left on Paradigm and all the guards he judged and taught, and he will be profoundly missed.

IN MEMORY OF MIKE PALAU
We are devastated to announce the passing of Paradigm family member Mike Palau on Sunday, December 31st, 2023 at the age of 45.
Mike was an integral part of the Paradigm organization for more than 20 years and while he was Janet's and my son-in-law, he was always so much more than that, he was also our best friend. We, along with so many others in the pageantry activity that Mike loved as a performer, staff member, judge, and contest director will miss his kind spirt, his sense of humor, and his zest for life.
Longtime Paradigm Performer and Instructor Ben Adams sums up our emotions wonderfully.
"Some may say death is a Typical Situation, but the Architect will take care of you now.
As we all take A Look Inside our own hearts, we know you were a part of the Genesis of the Paradigm family, and we have nothing but One Love for you.
You will always be one of our Favorite Things.
Fly off to Birdland, my Wayfaring Stranger, fly.
Stay Cool."
Mike leaves behind his wife Chris and their 11 year old daughter, Mackenzie.
As Mike passed with no life insurance, a GoFundMe account has been set up to benefit his 11 year old daughter Mackenzie. Anything you can afford to assist would be so greatly appreciated.
