Brittain’s Automotive Service started off as a humble motel/gas station in 1971. Nestled in the booming community of Durango, Colorado, this 2-bay, 12-room motel served locals and travelers alike. Owner John Brittain and his wife Betty treated their customers like old friends—either because they were, or because they soon would be after leaving the shop. Richard Brittain, John and Betty’s son, carries on the same spirit as the owner of Brittain’s Automotive today. Though the motel was leveled in 1997 to make way for the current 5-bay garage, he still enjoys helping people. In his own words, “I hold my head up and appreciate the fact that I get to fix people’s cars.
